The Summit Police Department is announcing the first date for the 2025 series of Roadside Safety Checkpoints. The first checkpoint will be conducted on May, 24th 2025. The checkpoint will be on the 5600 block of S. Harlem Avenue, and will operate from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Operating checkpoints throughout the year helps us achieve the goal of informing thousands of motorists about the dangers of impaired driving. The police detail is being paid for by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation (I.D.O.T.). As partners with I. D. O. T. the Summit Police Dept. is focused on improving the safety of our roadways through education and enforcement.
